Lion King remake trailer brings back childhood memories
Watching Lion King back in the day when we were kids was kind of a rite of passage to becoming a blooming child. The live action trailer for the classic 1994 Disney movie was unveiled and we couldn’t be more excited.
The trailer replicates iconic scenes like Rafiki smearing red powder over a confused, new born Simba’s forehead, the animal kingdom of Pride Lands bowing down to the act. The one and a half minute video clip is less of a trailer and more of a teaser that was first aired at the NFL Thanksgiving primetime game.
The film holds other quintessential shots as well and “Circle of Life”, the original film score for the animated film from 1994 plays in the background, sending some seriously nostalgic vibes. In the teaser, there was a running narration which was voiced by James Earl Jones- who will be playing Simba’s father, Mufasa in the upcoming film.
Lion King (2019) has been directed byl Jon Favreau, who also directed Iron Man. The film is produced by Walt Disney, which I’m sure needs no introduction. The cast is completely star studded with voice actors such as Beyonce (Nala), Donald Glover (Simba), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Keegan-Micheal Key (Kamari) and Billy Eichner (Timon). Apart from that, there are also James Earl Jones (Mufasa), John Oliver (Zazu), Eric Andre (Azizi) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar).
The film score will be created by none other than the great Hans Zimmer, who is famous for the mesmerizing scores of the Dark Knight trilogy, Interstellar and others. Accompanying him will be legendary musician Elton John, who will begin rework on some of his classic compositions. Surely, fans have high hopes from the film. The film will be released across screens world wide on 19th July 2019.
