You don't need to be an expert in all things LGBTQ, to let them know you care!

Exceptions aside, all parents want what's best for their kids. But providing them with ample heartfelt support on their journey of coming in terms with their sexuality, isn't always easy.

For many, coming out to the world is just a 'parental barrier' away; some folks would've done it earlier or anyway, if only they had the confidence of speaking up in front of their parents, with the assurance of acceptance.

In ways no different from their peers, the LGBTQ youth also faces challenges that their parents often feel unprepared to tackle or even address! So to make it all a bit easier to set foot on, the Awadh Queer Pride Committee is hosting a 'Pride With Parents' session on Saturday.

What's Happening?

On the 25th of January, you can head with your family to Gomti Nagar and attend the Pride With Parents event commencing 5 pm onwards and it'll go on roughly till 8 pm.

At the meet-up, which is going to be a safe space for all the attendees to open up, you can bring in whosoever you consider as a family; can be your parents, siblings or anyone who you think should be here. This session will focus on strengthening the parent-child relationship, to understand each other in a better way, through short movies and in-depth discussions.

Awadh Queer Pride Committee is extending an olive branch to the parents, who aren't too sure about the whole concept of LGBTQ and to those who need deeper insights into their child's sexuality. This meet-up will reflect on queer parenting, the concept of all-round acceptance and of course, it'll also be a way of showing the much-needed parental support.

Knock Knock

Around us, there are some parents who love their children, regardless of their identity. So it's an effort to bring such parents under one roof, where they can ask questions, share opinions or just be there to show their support in their child's journey.

This meet-up is about educating and making parents aware of the LGBTQ community and how they can tackle the challenges thrown at them or their children.

Venue: Gomti Nagar, Near SRS Mall

Timings: 5 PM to 8 PM
