Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

Winters are undoubtedly our favourite season and when it comes to Lucknow ki sardi, it's an experience we desperately wait for, every year! Winters in Lucknow have been a little over-drawn this year; the cold has set into our bones yet it is still so much better than the heat that Lucknow usually suffers from.

The winter season is not only a much welcome change after the intense heat, but it is also something we wait for the entire year because of all the perks it comes with. Here's why we cannot have enough of this season and aren't ready to say goodbye just yet!

Foggy mornings

A light foggy morning ride along the Marine Drive or near the Ekana stadium is thrilling enough to awaken your senses and put a pep in your step. We especially like driving through the lanes of Hazratganj during foggy mornings, when the traffic is light and the entire city seems to slow down.

Winter Special foods

Food is one thing we Lucknowites love more than all else. Winters bring with them a ton of season-specific delicacies which we wait to chomp down, the entire year. Makkhan malai, gajar ka halwa, jouzi halwa, noon chai, paye ka shorba- are some of our favourite things to eat during this season.

And the best part? In winters you can layer up your clothes and hide away all the weight you've gained! It's a win-win for all.

Hanging out over Chai

Chai is one thing we Lucknowites love more than food (well, maybe)! Hanging out at a local tapri/nukkad wale bhaiya during morning, afternoons and evening is one of our favourite things to do. No-one can ever have too-much chai and a sip of adrak and elaichi chai during a long workday is often the only thing saving us.

Perfect Picnic Weather

Early and late winter is the uncontested picnic weather. The sun shines brightly while a little nip in the air tells us that we will not sweat our faces off. This is the time of the year, we all head out to catch the beautiful vistas of the city, finding what we love about it and lounging in grassy patches, with the sun warming our bones.

The Zoo and Bada Imambara are best visited during this season and who can forget the makkhan malai you get to eat when out and about in old Lucknow!

The Annual Events & Festivals

Winter is that time of the year when most events and festivals are held in Lucknow. It is one of the most happening time for Lucknowites and we can never say no to all the amazing events that happen here. Lucknow Mahotsav, UP Mahotsav, Repertwahr- are a few of our favourites and we cannot imagine our winters without any of these!

Party Season!

Winters are quite a busy time for the city's party animals! There are so many parties to attend and so much fun to be had and no, we're not just talking about New Year's celebrations. Christmas parties, the usual December hits, the winter carnivals and a bunch of other festivals, always keep us on our toes during this season, here in Lucknow. Oh and the weddings too, have us hopping from one venue to the other!

Winter shopping in Ganj

Ganjing is the favourite idle activity of Lucknowites. If you want an OTG cable for your phone, a lehenga for the shaadi or just some chaat, Ganj is the place where you head to. Winter shopping in Ganj becomes an experience we long to have every day! You can just stroll around, hop from stalls to stores, without breaking a sweat and without soaking up any tan.

The nip in the air makes for the perfect excuse to nosh on some basket chaat, aloo tikki, Marksmen ka dosa or sip on the regular Sharma or Keval ki chai.

Knock Knock

Winters are a wonderful time of the year, more so when you're in a city as beautiful and amazing as Lucknow. The ancient architecture, the beautiful culture and the mouth-watering food makes for a wintertime we just don't wanna let go off!
