Dr. Ritu Karidhal Srivastava

While a girl's marriage prospects may still be judged by her knowledge of the right count of pressure cooker whistles, this city woman has turned tables, sending whistling rockets to space! Famously called the Rocket Woman of India, Ritu has served at prime posts in ISRO's ambitious projects-Mangalyaan and Chadrayaan-2. An alumnus of Lucknow University, the distinguished woman completed her aerospace engineering from the prestigious IISC Bangalore. Sanyukta Bhatia

While the domain of politics is still marked by a considerable lack of women, Sanyukta Bhatia trudged her way through all obstacle, becoming the first female Mayor of Lucknow in 100 years! In August 2017, she was also nominated to the Women's Commission for her efforts and endeavours. Through the past years after election, she has worked with unflinching determination towards making the city, neat and clean. Being a trailblazer in her forte, she is inarguably a storehouse of inspiration!

Runa Banerjee

Credited for bringing a socio-cultural revolution in Lucknow, Runa Banerjee has shown that sky is the only limit by bagging a Nobel Peace Prize nomination through her impassioned deeds! Conferred with Padma Shri by the government of India, she has evolved as a stalwart of social reformation, benefitting thousands of underprivilieged women through her enterprise called SEWA (Self Employed Women's Association). Awarded with myriads of honours like Hindustan Times Women Award 2011, TCS 'Women Achievers' Conclave 2011, Zee Astitwa Award 2008 and others, she deserves all our applause for her resolute attempts and unwavering commitment!

Manjari Chaturvedi

Awadh without arts is like a story without a soul! Hailing from an elite family, this Kathak dancer rose to prominence by crafting an ingenious genre of Sufi Kathak. Pankaj Bhadouria

After her win, Pankaj never looked backed and carved out a remarkable name in the field of culinary. Dr. V. Mohini Giri

Excelling in the field of activism and community service, Padma Bhushan Dr. V. An alumnus of Lucknow University, she went on to surpass an array of milestones, becoming the second chairperson of the National Commission for Women. Dr. Amrita Dass

A leading educationist and front runner in the sphere of career services in the country, Amrita Dass is the founder-director of 'Institute for Career Studies', based in Lucknow. After experiencing unusually cold weather this week, Lucknow and other cities of Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness a further dip in temperature in the coming days. As per the prediction by the Indian Meteorological Department, Lucknow will not witness any respite from severe cold waves in the next 48 hours. Notably, the MeT has issued a warning in the northern parts of the country regarding the temperature drop expected in the next five days.

Indian Railways plan to complete Indore-Dahod broad gauge project by June 2024

Ministry of Railways resumes work on the Indore-Dahod railway line project, targets completion by 2024.

Work has restarted on the 204.76 km long Indore-Dahod broad gauge railway line project of the Western Railways, Ratlam Division. The project was put on hold in May 2020. As of last month, the Railway Board has given permission to restart work on the project. The ministry of railways targets the completion of this project by June 2024. The railway line runs Indore to Dahod via Pithampur, Dhar, Sardarpur, and Jhabua.

UP crosses 24 crore vaccination mark; over 68 lakh doses administered in Lucknow!

Uttar Pradesh scales new high and becomes the first state to administer as many as 24.47 crore doses so far

Accelerating the pace of vaccination in top gear, Uttar Pradesh has crossed the 24-crore vaccination mark. As many as 24.47 crore doses have been administered in the state, including 24.26 lakh doses on Thursday. According to the health officials, more than four crore doses have been administered since the start of January which means an average of about 20 lakh doses were being administered every day.
