Omicron enters Maharashtra as Dombivli resident tests positive

This is the fourth confirmed case of Omicron in India

On Saturday, a 33- year old resident of Kalyan-Dombivli tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19. The man had travelled in from South Africa via Delhi. He is currently kept under isolation at a Covid Centre in Kalyan-Dombivli. He had earlier complained of mild fever but is now asymptomatic. This makes Maharashtra the third state in the country, after Karnataka and Gujarat, to have reported a case of the new variant of concern.

In an attempt to improve the appearance of the Walled City, Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has decided to undertake a beautification project of a selected number of lanes in the area. As per the reports, the civic body is working to repair and beautify more than 120 lanes of the famous Heritage Walkway. While the repair work was already set in motion earlier, the outbreak of COVID had put a barrier in its progress. With the work being resumed by the JMC now, this project is likely to conclude by February 2022.

The state government will pay homage to the freedom fighters by painting the images of Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Rajendra Nath Lahiri and Roshan Singh on the expressway. Notably, the Kakori Martyrs' Day is celebrated every year on December 19 to mark the sacrifice of the rebels who fought to death in the quest for our independence.
