Regional festivals like Durga Puja, Onam, Lohri are being celebrated by Lucknowites for quite some time but the grand celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi this year shows how well Lucknowites gel with religion and festivals.
The festival which was once restarted in Mumbai to reunite religions and to show the British the power of united India in 1892 by Bal Gangadhar Tilak, has finally come to Lucknow and the grand celebrations of 2017 show that the next year it is going to be even bigger.
Don’t be surprised if a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration scene is shot in Lucknow for a Bollywood film in a few months to come because the festive spirit was nothing less than that of Mumbaikars.
However, the “Sukhkarta Dukhharta” God is gone for an year and we cannot sing anything else but this-
Laut ke tujhko aana hai
Sunle kehta divana hai
Jab tera darsan payenge
Chain tab hamko pana hai
Tujhko phir se jalwa
Dikhana hi hoga
Agle baras aana hai (aana hi hoga )
