The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has issued a ban on the sale, keeping as pets, and breeding of some dog breeds in Lucknow, that are believed to be ‘dangerous to human life’. It is noteworthy that those who already have any of the banned breeds as pets will be allowed to keep them as long as they have proper license and registration with the LMC.
However, no new licenses will be issued for the banned dog breeds from April 1. In addition to that, breeding agencies will also be stopped from breeding these breeds from the aforementioned date.

LMC to begin door-to-door campaign SOON
It is noteworthy that this move from the LMC comes after the Central Government’s ban on keeping these dog breeds as pets. To execute the ban, the LMC will also conduct a door-to-door drive from April 1.
If a pet parent is found keeping any of the banned dog breeds as pets without proper license and registration, a ban of ₹5,000 will be slapped and the dog will be confiscated.
