Ending a long wait for the city folks, a brand new fleet of 75 electric AC buses today was inaugurated in Lucknow today. Launched at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar, these buses will be deployed across 10 different routes in the city. Besides being a significant step towards curbing air and noise pollution levels, the introduction of these buses will also ease and enhance intra-city commute for regular travelers.
Buses to run on THESE 10 routes in Lucknow
Under the first phase of the project, 700 electric buses are being introduced across Lucknow and other state districts, including Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Jhansi, Ghaziabad. Manufactured at a cost of ₹45 lakh each, these buses provide the facility of air-conditioned and noiseless travel. As per the current plans, the new buses will run on these 10 routes in Lucknow-

Buses to usher a new travel experience for Lucknowites
The vehicles are equipped with CCTV cameras and panic buttons for ensuring the safety of the passengers. In addition to this, they also have adjustable seats, fast charging devices and fire equipment. Further, a special ramp has also been added for the benefit of specially-abled individuals. With a host of advanced features, the buses will bring a new travel experience for Lucknowites.
Initially, the buses took two and a half hours for complete charging. Now, the latest technology has helped in the reduction of this time to 45 minutes. The authorities have set up four charging points in the city at Dubagga, Ramram Bank Chauraha, Rajajipuram and Virajkhand. Once fully charged, the new AC buses will run for a total of 200 Km. After the buses start operations, the public transport system in the city will be surely revamped.
