Lucknow Metro started its operations in September 2017 and since then kites with metallic manjha have become a serious problem. On Thursday, Lucknow Metro’s overhead electric wire broke down due to a metallic manjha near Shringar Nagar metro station.
Lucknow metro halted for 30mins after which the services were resumed. In the last six months of operation, it is third such incident caused due to kites with electric manjha.
Thanks to LMRC’s quick action, the services were resumed in just 30mins and an FIR was also lodged against an unnamed person.
Kite-flying is a routine thing on Charbagh to Alambagh stretch but metallic manjha, which is banned, is causing problems to LMRC. The authorities have requested the people to stop flying kites near the metro corridor. Flying kite near the metro corridor can cause electrocution to the flyer.
The metro construction is going on in full swing in Lucknow. The North-South corridor is expected to open for public in 2019. It is being anticipated that the full stretch of North-South corridor might become operational before the next general elections.
