Lucknow Traffic Police is launching fast-response biker patrol units to tackle worsening traffic congestion across 42 busy intersections in the city, by next week. Led by DCP Kamlesh Dixit, these teams will ride high-speed racer bikes equipped with wireless communication and public address systems. Each bike will have two trained officers ready to swiftly manage traffic snarls and coordinate in real-time with the central traffic control room.
Racer bike patrols to speed up response
The initiative follows a high-level meeting involving key officials like the divisional commissioner and mayor, prompted by concerns over worsening traffic. The identified areas include Hazratganj, Charbagh, Aliganj, Gomtinagar, and more.
A total of 84 officers will be deployed, with the agility of racer bikes allowing quicker response than regular patrol vehicles. The bikers will also direct traffic on-site using PA systems and call for reinforcements when needed, ensuring smoother vehicle flow and quicker resolution of jams.
