In a bid to scale up the safety and security of state residents, UP Police has decided to add a new feature to UPCOP, a citizen-centric mobile application operational in Uttar Pradesh. With this latest addition, citizens will be able to undertake more protected journeys while commuting in different cities in UP. They will be apprised about the probable dangers on specific roads, highways and other sensitive areas in the city, including information about the blind turns.

If a citizen is traveling from one place to the other, the application will alert the user about the exepected perils on the way to the destination. Besides informing about the risky junctures on the road, the app will also provide data about the areas that record higher criminal activity.
Recently, DG Technical Services Sandeep Salunke announced the planned inclusion of this new facility and the concerned team has already started working on this project. Further, a new GIS (Geological Information System) has been purchased for this.

When a person travels from one part of the city to the other, the app will inform him/her about the safest way for the travel. In addition to this, the individual will receive a message, having information about the regions that have recorded criminal activity in the past. Further, citizens will also get to know about traffic jams, accident-prone areas, speed limits and blind turns amongst other things. Users of the app will have the option to receive the alert via a beep or a popup.
It is expected that the state DGP will launch this facility, after proper discussions with the Chief Minister. Once the new feature is added, citizens can download the app by clicking here and register with their mobile number.
