New slip roads in Lucknow to ease travel from Gomti Nagar Extension to Kanpur Road!

Expected to benefit a large count of citizens, the construction works for these facilities will be started next month.

Aiming to facilitate easier commute for the vehicles on the road extended beyond Shaheed Path, Lucknow Development Authority has intervened to construct slip roads. With the establishment of the two new ramps (slip roads), smoother vehicular movements shall be assured from Gomti Nagar Extension Bandha to Kanpur Road and the Police Headquarters. Expected to benefit a large count of citizens, the construction works for these facilities will be started next month.

What's the new development?

As per the information given by Indushekhar Singh, the missing link project included the setting up of the new linking roads. Now, the scheme has been approved for implementation and the tender process was also initiated thereafter. It has been stated that the two ramps will be constructed under this scheme, connecting the existing Gomti Nagar Extension Bandha Road in front of SSB Headquarters to Shaheed Path.

Know about the two ramps-

The first ramp will be lowered on the 9-metre road in Gomti Nagar Extension Sector-4. It will link the service lane of Sector-6 via an underpass in front of the SSB building.

Secondly, a curved ramp will be established to link Bandha Road towards Shalimar Township. Through this intervention, the vehicles will be able to return to Shaheed Path by taking a U-turn and the route to Kanpur Road will also be eased. As of now, there is no ramp in front of the SSB building due to the scarcity of space.

What are the expected benefits?

With the construction of the slip road, it will be easy to reach the Police Headquarters and Omaxe Township. Currently, the vehicles pass through the slip road towards Gomti Nagar Extension, Sector 7, on the right side. Once the new slip road is made, the vehicles will land in front of the Ekana Stadium and reach the underpass directly in front of the police headquarters. Further, there is also an underpass in front of the Phoenix Palassio mall, which allows access from the Medanta Hospital to Omaxe Township.

It has been stated that the vehicles coming from the Pipraghat Bridge will not have to travel on the wrong side, after the new ramps are made. Additionally, the residents of Sector 6 apartments in Gomti Nagar Extension, will get a direct route to Kanpur Road now.

How much will the new project cost?

It is anticipated that a total cost of ₹7.39 crores will be spent on this project, which would extend over a stretch of 2.5 km. While the allocation has been announced, there is no information about the expected timeline of the project. In order to ensure that the citizens are benefitted soon, the intervention will have to be executed in an amplified manner.
