Going for a long drive, or rather a long ride on the Agra Expressway is real fun, there’s no denying that. However, if you’re someone who rides on this route without a helmet, then you’re in for a surprise. According to latest updates, you can no longer travel on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway without a helmet.
The authorities, aiming to crack down those that flout traffic rules on the expressway and travel without helmets, have made wearing the helmet a must, if you’re looking for an entry on the e-way.

What’s the update?
The days of being a daredevil are pretty much over. Often times, it has been reported that several travellers- mostly the youth, are seen riding on the e-way at high speed without helmets. This oversight can be nothing short of deadly on a road such as the expressway.
To curb this practice of riding without helmets along the Agra Expressway, the traffic cops will ensure that there is no entry for such travellers on the e-way.

Why the need?
This move has been put in to place with immediate effect as it was a major issue that needed to be tackled. The authorities had often taken note to non helmet riders and it is finally time that some action is taken against them.
The development comes about after a ‘road traffic’ study by the WHO was made public. As per the report, it is clear that non use of helmets is one of the major factors that contributes to the piling number of accidents and deaths along the route.
The report also goes on to list several statistics. One of these suggest that wearing a helmet while riding on the Agra Expressway can reduce fatality chances by 42% and lessen head injuries by 69%. Surely, one can understand the perils of riding without a helmet.
