Households frequently face the issue of accumulated scrap and useless items. Old utensils, plastic items, newspapers and more tend to gather in our homes, posing a challenging task to tackle. With a motive to provide a one-stop solution to the issue, the UP government now plans to establish dedicated RRR centres (reduce, reuse and recycle) in various state districts.
These centres which will be established in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Meerut, Agra, Ghaziabad, Prayagraj, Aligarh, Bareilly, Moradabad and Saharanpur, will provide a comprehensive solution for managing and disposing off such materials.

The centres are being established under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair’s (MoHUA) ‘Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shehar’ campaign.
Within these RRR facilities, an innovative initiative called ‘Na Throw-Na Throw’ (a playful nod to the Oscar-winning song “Natu Natu”) will be carried out where citizens will be able to deposit unusable and scrap items.
Under the campaign, which will be effective between May 20 to June 5, ‘Na Throw-Na Throw’ chariots will be deployed in all 11 selected municipal corporations. These chariots will directly pick up waste items from households.

Once the items are collected, they will be put to good use in various ways. Reusable items will be redistributed to those who can benefit from them. Meanwhile, unusable items will be handed over to various stakeholders who will refurbish them for reuse or transform them into new products, promoting sustainability and reducing waste.
The authorities will also take steps to recycle the waste generated during the preparation of ODOP (One District One Product) products, ensuring a comprehensive approach to waste management.
Additionally, a cow dung bank will be established at Kanha Upvan in Lucknow. The bank will serve as a central collection point for cow dung from the surrounding areas. This collected dung will then be utilised to create a range of environment-friendly products, embracing the spirit of sustainability.
