To arrest the cases of women endangerment in the capital city of the state, Lucknow Police has undertaken an initiative which would promptly prevent crimes against females. Soon, the concerned officials will be setting up panic buttons at Pink Booths located near major roads and intersections, scaling up the law and order scenario of the city. Women will just have to press a button, if they feel unsafe or are in the face of distress on the roads and the nearest help will find them instantaneously.
Panic buttons to lead out females out of troubles in the city
Keeping in mind the safety of women in Lucknow, the district police has started preparations for this initiative and the panic buttons will lead out females out of troubles. On the push of the button, the cameras installed at the booths will capture the image of the complainant and the picture will be instantly sent to the police headquarters. Then the local forces will be signalled at their stations and they will immediately get into action, to nab the malefactor. Through this initiative, women can roam around the city without any fears or apprehensions and hopefully, it will also curb the hassles faced by women, in the context of serial catcallers and eve-teasers.
Moreover, just last month, the district authorities re-aligned the agenda of the city’s Anti Romeo squad, that will now dedicatedly work to keep the rising rate of crime against the female population, in check. This re-vamped unit has not only been tasked to aggressively track eve-teasers but has also been given the power to initiate action against repeat offenders. According to reports, the Anti-Romeo squads will also be functioning soon in other districts of UP. As per the issued protocols, the squad will first take the offender into their custody and counsel them but if they refuse to reform, they will be booked under the Goonda Act.
