Renovation at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport is in full swing. All work is scheduled for completion by August 15. Daytime flights at Amausi Airport have been suspended since March 1 to facilitate construction. Currently, no flights operate between 11 AM and 5 PM. From July 16 to August 15, this window will be shortened to 11 AM to 3 PM. Full daytime operations are expected to resume from August 16.

Over 60% of the taxiway work is already complete, with the rest progressing steadily.
Why Lucknow’s new parallel taxiway matters
The existing runway is 2,744 metres long and 45 metres wide. A new parallel taxiway is being built alongside it to streamline aircraft movement. Once complete, it will reduce runway occupancy time, allowing faster and safer landings and take-offs, further improving operational efficiency.
Runway re-carpeting for safer operation
The runway is being resurfaced for the first time since 2018. The old layer is being removed and replaced with a fresh bitumen surface as per aviation norms. Re-carpeting covers an area of approximately 1.8 lakh square metres, including the runway and taxiway.
Smarter, safer lighting with AGL upgrade!
The Airfield Ground Lighting system is being modernised by replacing halogen lights with LEDs and upgrading airfield signage. This will improve visibility during night-time operations and reduce power consumption by up to 50%.
