Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

In the beginning of May, McDonald’s restaurants across North and East India were shut down. The step was taken as after the Connaught Plaza Restaurants Private Limited (CPRL), entity that co-owned and operated McDonald’s restaurants across North and East India, were finally able to close down a long run legal battle. Finally, after about two weeks of depriving us faithful foodies, of our daily dosage of junk, McDonald’s has opened 13 of its existing outlets across Delhi NCR.

What’s the update?

The Connaught Plaza Restaurants Private Limited (CPRL) which was co-owned by Vikram Bakshi and McDonald’s India, had been engrossed in a long drawn legal battle that lasted for over six years. On the 9th of May, both the parties finally decided on an out-of-court settlement where Vikram Bakshi was bought out by the American giant.

After the event McDonald’s decided to close off all of its North and East India outlets for a stock check, rebranding, equipment maintenance, technology audits, menu & marketing updates and employee training for a more “advance” McDonald’s experience.

Which outlets are open and what about the others?

The quick service restaurants in prominent locations such as Gurugram’s Cyber Hub, CBD Cross River Mall, Janpath, Delhi D Mall Rohini, Delhi’s T3 International Airport and various other malls and busy markets in Delhi NCR saw their favourite fast food chain opening.

Yet, there are still a lot of outlets across North and East India that have yet not been opened yet. In a statement, CPRL said that the restaurants will open in a few day’s or week’s time, they are not sure. It has just been made obvious that the trusted McDonald’s taste and flavour is going to be back in a short while and we would be able to hog on the classic McD junk food very soon.
