Commuting in Mumbai to get easier by the end of the year
Who isn't aware of the fact that commuting in Mumbai is an absolute nightmare! Be it the public transport or personal, the vehicular density and the population makes it extremely difficult for people to navigate their way to their work places and homes.
To curb the rampant traffic issues and provide a solution for the loss of productivity and time that happens because of long jams and traffic lights, Mumbai will soon have several new projects to boast-of. These developments include 2 new metro corridors and 3 road projects that are will be completed in 2020.
What's the update?
To solve West Mumbai's traffic woes, end bottleneck jams and provide a much needed respite to the commuters in the area, MMRD has announced that 5 new development projects will be completed by the end of this year.
According to a report by TOI, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) confirmed earlier that 2 metro projects- D N Nagar-Dahisar Metro 2A and Andheri-Dahisar Metro 7 will be inaugurated by the end of October this year.
As well as three road project, i.e. the SCLR extension till Western Express Highway, BKC-Vakola Junction elevated road and Kalanagar Junction improvement will also be completed by the end of the year.
According to the same report, the metro projects are expected to reduce the congestion on S V Road, Western Express Highway and reduce the over-crowding of local trains. The metro corridors, together, are also expected to carry almost 10 lakh passengers on the daily.
While the road projects aim to ensure that traffic is smoothened in the commercial hubs and provide a better connectivity with BKC. The road projects will not only save the overall commuting time of the passengers but also end the bottleneck jams in the respective areas.
It is no news that commuting in Mumbai wastes a lot of our time and there's no way we around it than newer and better projects. These 5 projects are sure to distribute the traffic in the city and provide for alternate routes that are faster and less congested.
