In a bid to provide safe and efficient travel to all, Western Railway (WR) has decided to increase the frequency of festival special trains in Maharashtra, as Ganesh Chaturthi is right around the corner. The Chief Public Relations Officer, Sumit Thakur, on Friday informed that 4 additional special trains have been scheduled for commute towards the Konkan regions, considering the festive rush. With this, a total of 42 special trains will be at the public's disposal in September 2021.
Additional trips to ensure COVID-19 safe travel during festivities
Earlier, the Western Railway had announced to green flag about 38 trips to various destinations during the Ganesh Chaturthi 2021 run. However, this number has been boostedd up to 42 trips now. The increased frequency of festive special trains in Maharastra will ensure travel for all, in compliance with the COVID-19 protocols. More services will enable the railway authorities to stagger crowds in line with the norms of social distancing.
The new trains will ply to destinations like Madgaon, Surathkal, and Kudal via Vasai Road as notified earlier, the Chief PRO added. Passengers must note that they cannot board any special train without a confirmed ticket reservation.
The WR has also announced the details of two additional Ganpati special trains in a press release:
Bandra Terminus-Madgaon AC Special train will depart from the Bandra Termius on September 7. The train will have AC 3-Tier and AC Chair Car coaches.
Udhna-Madgaon Superfast Special train will depart from Udhna on September 9. Its coach composition includes AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper Class & Second Class Seating rakes.
