These buses will be in sync with the arrival time of the metro trains plying in the city.
As per reports, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply & Transport (BEST) is all set to position AC e-buses outside all metro station feeder routes to help commuters save time on travel. Further, in order to ensure comfort and connectivity, these buses will be in sync with the arrival time of the metro trains plying in the city. BEST is also planning on deploying some of these electric buses outside the metro stations and Mumbai will now have a total of 340 AC electric buses with 26 launched, last Friday.
E-buses to cover important routes
These new electric AC buses will be equipped with WiFi, charging ports, CCTV cameras and a lift for the ease of differently abled passengers on wheelchairs. The prominent routes which the buses are set to cover in Mumbai are:
- 25 Ltd: Backbay Depot to Powai
- Route Number 121: Backbay to Napean Sea/ J Mehta Marg
- Route Number 137: Navy Nagar to NCPA (ring road)
AC buses outside metro stations & railway stations
According to reports, BEST is also planning on making life easier for passengers, with maximum AC buses outside metro stations and railway stations, which will ensure comfortable travel for passengers during peak hours in the morning. Around 1000 buses are expected to be acquired by BEST in the coming months, with reportedly 34 of arriving by this month's end.
Currently, the e-buses are scheduled to be launched outside metro station feeder routes. But in the long run, this fleet of AC electric buses will ease the burden on local trains and also give access to comfortable travel to commuters, especially during peak hours in the city.
