COVID-19 spike raises concerns
The rising trajectory of COVID cases in Mumbai has raised health concerns across civic and state authorities. This soaring effect has been identified as a state phenomenon, with 1,179 fresh cases adding to Maharashtra's pandemic load. Of these, around 23 have tested positive from the Omicron strain of coronavirus, added reports. Till date, a total of 88 such patients have been found in Maharashtra, where 42 have been discharged after a negative RT-PCR test.
Fresh COVID guidelines to be issued soon
Amid the sensitive COVID situation, the state government has announced curbs to limit Christmas gatherings and New Year celebrations, across all districts. While a set of guidelines are already in effect, capping the attendance in churches at 50%, the administration has decided to issue fresh guidelines today. A night curfew is likely in Mumbai.
