Underground metro construction work to begin in Dadar; know all about the road ​diversions here

As per reports, the orders will be valid for the next 6 months, up to February 2022.

The Mumbai Police on Thursday announced shutdown and diversions at several key routes in Dadar, owing to the ongoing Metro Line 3 work. An underground metro station has been lined up in Dadar and the construction of same will restrict regular commute. As per reports, the police order will be valid for all vehicular movement for the next 6 months, up to February 2022.

Traffic restrictions in Dadar:

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation has begun the construction work for the underground Metro 3, Project 4 in Dadar, in full swing. This, consequently, is said to affect the flow of vehicular traffic from Lt. Anna Tipnis Chowk (Steelman Junction) to Gadkari Chowk. The Traffic Police department has announced diversions to streamline commute in the area. The following traffic diversions are in effect from August 31, 2021 to February 27, 2022 in Dadar, announced Mumbai Police:

  • The northbound stretch of Gokhale Road, between Gadhkari Chowk to Steelman Junction, will remain closed for traffic. While the southbound arm of the same road will remain open, both ends of the stretch have been declared as 'No Parking Zones' for 24 hours.
  • Vehicular entry from Senapati Bapat Statute towards Steelman Junction on Ranade Road will not be permitted.

    • People moving from Portuguese Church along Gokhale Road will be directed to a left turn from the Lt Anna Tipnis Chowk (Steelman Junction) towards Ranade Road, Dadasaheb Rege Road and Gadkari Junction.
    • Traffic flowing towards Dadar TT Circle will be diverted to a right turn from Steelman Junction. From Ranade Road and Paneri Junction, vehicles will be routed towards the NC Kelkar, Kotwal Garden and then towards their destination.

    Citizens complain of hampered daily convenience

    "The diversions have increased my average commute time by nearly 20 minutes. The alternate routes go through some extremely narrow bylanes which are prone to bottlenecks. Dealing with this for another 6 months is going to be challenging", said Samit Sharma, a Dadar resident.

    The infamous Mumbai traffic has now become a regular sight, especially for the citizens staying in Dadar. This region is a junction of the central and western suburbs and anyway is classified as one of the busiest locales of the metropolis. As per the citizens' sentiment, the metro - ease of the future has surely developed as an inconvenience of the present.

    Kanpur Traffic Police announces road diversions at Mall Road in line with metro development work

    Traffic will be regulated on the diverted route from 4 PM on Saturday to 6 AM on Monday.

    The Kanpur Traffic Police Department has announced its road diversion plan to ensure glitch-free commute in the city during the course of metro development work. Reportedly, the Kanpur Metro Rail Corporation has decided to set up a cross-arm intersection at the Motijheel Station of the Priority Corridor. This ongoing construction work will stretch till 6 AM on September 27 and all vehicles passing through this site will be redirected.
