Several gated business in Mumbai allowed to remain open round the clock

Mumbai has long been called 'the city that never sleeps' and finally the destiny of Mumbai and its name has come full circle! Now you can eat, shop, party and hangout in the city around the clock ad most hotels, restaurants, multiplexes and malls have been allowed to remain open 24x7.

Mumbai is finally set to fulfil the destiny of its name, the city will now have businesses open and running throughout the day and the nightlife in Mumbai just got a whole lot more interesting!

What's the update?

Mumbai malls, multiplexes, restaurants, hotels and other businesses have been finally allowed to keep their gates open around the clock. the move has been made in order to increase the scope of business for the city and ensure that Mumbai has a lively night life.

Grabbing a meal, getting your favourite brand of popcorn and even catching a movie, past midnight has become a possibility in the city with this new step. The Mumbai Police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), have given a green signal to all commercial establishments that fall under the category of "gated communities" and non-residential areas, to remain open 24x7 starting the midnight of 26 January.

Who is allowed to remain open?

Around 20 commercial establishment have been identified as viable to remain open round the clock. These establishments have been picked after ensuring that they comply with BMC guidelines and have proper infrastructure.

The establishments that will be allowed to remain open should be fire compliant, have CCTV surveillance facility, a proper parking facility and are able to ensure the safety of their customers.

According to a report by HT, some of the identified malls include Phoenix Market City- Kurla, Growel's 101- Kandivli, Atria Mall- Worli, R-City Mall- Ghatkopar, Oberoi Mall- Goregaon and High Street Phoenix- Lower Parel. Bars, pubs, restaurants and other establishments that serve alcohol can do so till 1:30 am at the latest.

The identified establishments can either choose to open 24x7 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or all through the week.

Jaipur's Kumarappa National Handmade Paper Institute has devised a technology to manufacture low-cost distemper and emulsion from cow-dung. Lucknow Airport receives global recognition by ACI for 'extraordinary proactive measures'

Adding another feather to the city's resplendent cap, Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh airport has been officially recognized by the Airports Council International (ACI) under the banner of their Airport Health Accreditation programme. Mumbai scrapes-off fine for not wearing masks while driving private vehicles

Fines will still be imposed on people travelling mask-less in public transport and/or public places.

In a fresh set of guidelines issued by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Sunday, people will no longer be fined for not wearing masks inside private vehicles. In a directive issued by the BMC, all clean-up marshals were asked to exempt people in personal vehicles from the no-mask fine, priced at ₹200. However, this relaxation has not been extended to people travelling in public transport including taxis, rickshaws, buses and trains. Fines will also be imposed on people without face masks in other public places, stated the BMC.
