Mumbai is finally set to fulfil the destiny of its name, the city will now have businesses open and running throughout the day and the nightlife in Mumbai just got a whole lot more interesting!

What's the update?

Mumbai malls, multiplexes, restaurants, hotels and other businesses have been finally allowed to keep their gates open around the clock. the move has been made in order to increase the scope of business for the city and ensure that Mumbai has a lively night life.

Grabbing a meal, getting your favourite brand of popcorn and even catching a movie, past midnight has become a possibility in the city with this new step. The Mumbai Police and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), have given a green signal to all commercial establishments that fall under the category of "gated communities" and non-residential areas, to remain open 24x7 starting the midnight of 26 January.

Who is allowed to remain open?

Around 20 commercial establishment have been identified as viable to remain open round the clock. These establishments have been picked after ensuring that they comply with BMC guidelines and have proper infrastructure.

The establishments that will be allowed to remain open should be fire compliant, have CCTV surveillance facility, a proper parking facility and are able to ensure the safety of their customers.

According to a report by HT, some of the identified malls include Phoenix Market City- Kurla, Growel's 101- Kandivli, Atria Mall- Worli, R-City Mall- Ghatkopar, Oberoi Mall- Goregaon and High Street Phoenix- Lower Parel. Bars, pubs, restaurants and other establishments that serve alcohol can do so till 1:30 am at the latest.

The identified establishments can either choose to open 24x7 on Friday, Saturday, Sunday or all through the week.
