Your favourite Bambaii street food will soon meet the highest sanitation and hygiene standards.

If you have been craving to reel in the savoury flavours of your favourite road-side food in Mumbai, we do have great news for you! The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to install food trucks at 65 locations in Mumbai, identified and shortlisted for the same. In the coming days, about 3,331 vendors will have licensed food trucks or regular food stalls across Mumbai, bringing you the sumptuous and savoury deals of your favourite street food, marked with the assurance of hygiene.

Iconic Bombay street food made hygienic and safe!

The BMC had extended its plan to station food trucks in the city to accommodate 3,331 licensed vendors at 65 locations. Though the civic body had drafted the proposal this year, there is no better time than now to set its wheels in motion! With the outbreak of the pandemic, people have marked hygiene as their top priority. These food trucks and stalls will come as a great respite for all those foodies who have missed the iconic Bombay street food for so long.

As per reports, the State Tourism Department has also given a push to these food trucks and a part of the ₹200 crore budget for city beautification, has been reserved for it. As per the allocation of funds in 2021-2022, this money will be used for creating food hubs, improving the state of footpaths and roads under the shadow of flyovers.

The food stalls at these food hubs in Mumbai will have to procure a license from BMC's health department. This will authorise the sales of their products from 6 AM to 11 PM. According to the BMC draft, these spaces and stalls can only be used to sell food, which will be safe and hygienic for consumption by all.
