Railway's Universal Ticket System (UTS) app was suspended during the pandemic
Good news 'local' travellers! Starting today, all fully vaccinated passengers can book online tickets for suburban trains directly from their phones, through the UTS app. Railway's Universal Ticket System (UTS) was suspended during the pandemic as there was no way to verify the COVID vaccination status of the commuters. Reportedly, the app has been made functional, starting today along with the required verification facility.

As per the officials, the UTS Mobile App has been linked with the government of Maharashtra's Universal Pass System to incorporate the mandatory checking of the COVID vaccination status of passengers. According to the reports, only fully-vaccinated citizens can get this Universal Pass, after a 14-day gap from the last dose. Reportedly, the pass will be issued post verification of the vaccination status by the state government portal.
The UTS application is available on Google Play Store and AppStore for Android and Apple users. Passengers who already use the mobile app will have to simply update the app to unlock this new feature.This initiative by the concerned departments will ensure smoother and seamless functioning of the local train ticketing system for regular commuters.
Platform ticket fares to drop ₹10 from Thursday
From November 25, the platform ticket fares will fall back to ₹10 from ₹50 at few stations like Panvel, CSMT, LTT, Thane and Kalyan Central. As per reports, the imposition of these older rates has been moved under the eased restrictions offered by the Railway starting today.
