Home isolation made mandatory for domestic travellers flying to Mumbai!
BMC issues new home isolation guidelines for travelers reaching Mumbai
In a order issued by the BMC, all domestic passengers travelling to Mumbai via flights will have to observe a 14 day home isolation to curb the transmission of the coronavirus. All Government officials will also fall within the purview of this new order that has regulated the travel and quarantine protocol.
For protection and precaution
Domestic travel commenced in Mumbai on May 25 and the operating procedure mandated the 14 day isolation precaution. However, since then, various government officials flying to Mumbai had managed to escape this protocol by producing their official government identity cards. To circumvent this callousness, the authorities have come with a protocol that does not exempt anybody, resident, tourist and officials alike.
Exemption from this home isolation will be allowed if the individual requests so in writing and submits the application at the portal.mcgm.gov.in/ in advance of 2 working days before the travel. The details of the work, its importance and priority need to be mentioned which will back and support the justification of exemption of a serious health protocol.
The airport authorities have been directed to not excuse anybody without informing the MCGM. All those undergoing a 14 day self administered, home quarantine will be stamped on their left hand. If any stamped individual is found outside their home bounds, they shall be booked for flouting rules.
Knock Knock
Isolation has emerged as the strongest precautionary measure to both cure and control the transmission of the deadly coronavirus. In a city like Mumbai, where the number of cases have exceeded the 1 lakh mark, stricter rules and stringent protocols are being imposed to arrest the spread of the infection. All those flying to Mumbai are requested to adhere to these guidelines.
