The maiden store opened at Marole, in Andheri (East), Mumbai
Mumbai witnessed the launch of the Texas-based 7-Eleven store in Andheri, marking the first of its kind endeavour in India. The 7-India Convenience Retail Limited, a Reliance owned subsidiary of the 7-Eleven, Inc (SEI) opened up at Marole in Andheri East, promising a superior shopping experience to the customers. As per reports, the new store has paved the way to bring this iconic global brand to key locales and commercial areas across the Greater Mumbai cluster.
7-Eleven store undergoes the Indian makeover to win over locals
The 7-Eleven Marole store in Mumbai is spread across 600 feet approximately and caters to a wide range of food, beverages, snacks and daily essentials. The unit has undergone the Indian makeover to provide local snacks such as samosa, vada pav, french fries, sandwiches, rice bowls along with FMCJ majors and the Reliance owned Snac Tac on its stands.
The idea is to provide a unique range of food options, crafted specially to appeal to the local tastes, with a focus on affordability and hygiene. The QSR set-up serves breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner, in both veg and non-veg options. The first floor of the concept store has a small seating place to accommodate 10 to 12 people and is equipped with washrooms.
While the international enterprise is a 24x7 format store, it will currently operate only from 7 AM to 11 PM. As per reports, the public response was decent on the inaugural day with regular walk-ins throughout.
Bringing global enterprises to domestic terrain
"India is the second-largest country in the world and has one of the fastest-growing economies. It's an ideal time for the largest convenience retailer in the world to make an entry into Indian market" said SEI President and Chief Executive Officer Joe DePinto.
The market potential favours the growth of such brands, bringing in a host of upgrades for the people. Simultaneously, the move is expected to contribute significantly towards local employment and for building an all-new eco-system for convenient stores in the country.
