Mumbai’s Khar Road Railway Station has emerged as the first fully redeveloped station under the ₹950 crore Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) 3A, marking a major leap in modernising the city’s suburban rail network. Key features include a 270-meter-long home platform to ease congestion, a massive 4,952 sqm elevated deck, the largest on Western Railway, and a 31-meter skywalk for seamless movement. Accessibility has been prioritised with three lifts, five escalators (including a unique double-discharge escalator), and tactile tiles for visually impaired passengers.
The station now boasts deluxe toilets, dedicated disability-friendly counters, HVLS fans for ventilation, and a modern façade.
