The Central Railway authorities in Mumbai give out regular updates about the situation of the intra-city transit system through their Twitter handle. As per their latest report, the local transport system has functioned without halt between the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Dadar railway stations. The body also informed that the services along the Dadar-Kurla line were stopped due to increased water collection and the facility has been resumed at 12:50 PM.
Reports state that the local train was discontinued earlier between Kurla and Sion, when there was an impending fear of a high tide and its expected repercussions. At that time, the floodgates of the Mithi River were also closed.
Trains running at lower speed in view of the rains
While the services are functional on the harbour line from CSMT to Panvel and Goregaon, the speed of the trains has been curtailed due to the heavy rains. Besides, it has been stated that Belapur/Nerul-Kharkopar line and the trans harbour line are operating smoothly without interruptions.
It is noteworthy that the weather conditions in Mumbai are expected to be the same for the upcoming days. With the possibilities of heavy rainfall at certain places, a red alert has been issued for June 13 and 14. As a part of the advisory, the citizens have been asked to not move out if there is no urgency.
