Maharashtra govt grants ₹11,500 crore flood relief aid for repairs & long-term rehabilitation

The state of Maharashtra has promised to provide ₹10,000 to all families affected in the recent flood disaster

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday approved and announced a ₹11,500 crore flood relief package to those affected by the calamity brought in by the recent floods here. The much-anticipated aid will be utilised for emergency relief, repairs and long-term rehabilitation measures for the victims of the disaster. As many as 9 districts were knee-deep in trouble last month, due to extreme rainwater activity in the state.

State aid to help rebuild life in flood-affected Maharashtra

In an important meeting of the cabinet, chaired by the Chief Minister, the state of Maharashtra has decided to grant flood relief to the victims of the flood disaster. As per the deliberations here, a ₹10,000 grant will be forwarded to all affected families, while ₹1.50 lakh will be given to those who completely lost their homes to the water force.

Meanwhile, ₹50,000 aid will be provided to all shopkeepers who have suffered damage due to the recent floods. On similar lines, streetside vendors will also be assisted with a grant of ₹10,000 for their losses.

Minorities Affairs Minister informed that around 4 lakh hectares of cultivable agricultural lands have been destroyed in the flood. About 20% of the balance work of recording panchnamas is still underway, he added further.

However, the state has assured that affected people will be provided sufficient support and relief to ensure that they can rebuild their lives. Officials of the state have also appealed to the Union to come forward and help Maharashtra emerge victorious from the huge crisis.

UP to soon get a new 200-acre-wide data centre park
