The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project got a significant boost after the Maharashtra government cleared the project in its entirety. This means that issues related to land acquisition will be resolved soon. Only 72% of the 431 hectares of land has been acquired, and only 39% is under physical possession of the National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL).
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has issued orders for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to relocate a structure, which is located on a plot at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and is planned for use in the high-speed train project’s terminus.
The project will create a lot of direct and indirect employment, increase the economy, and help transform the transport and connectivity of the country.
The land allotment was stuck for three years
According to an MMRDA official, the shifting of the petrol pump structure is set to be complete very soon since the land allotment, which was stuck for over three years, has been finalized now. The G block of BKC has been allotted for the BPCL Petrol Pump.
“For the bullet train project alignment passing through the forest area, stage-I clearance has been granted by the Maharashtra government, and the stage-II approval is also expected by September,” a government official said.
As per the reports, the entire Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project will be completed at an approximate cost of Rs 1,10,000 crore, out of which Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will contribute Rs 88,000 crore.
