IRCTC's privately run Mumbai- Ahemdabad Tejas Express to run only 3 days a week till Feb 10

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Train to now run only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

In wake of an emergent COVID case spike in Mumbai and adjoining areas, the (IRCTC) announced a lowered frequency for its private Mumbai-Ahmedabad Tejas Express, until February 10. For the next month, the luxury train will shuttle only three times a week along the Ahmedabad JN-Mumbai Central (MMCT)-Ahmedabad JN route, instead of the earlier 5 trips a week. Passengers can now board the train only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for the said period.


New guidelines to help reschedule travel arrangements

In an order issued by the IRCTC, the Tejas Express train along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor will run thrice a week, with effect from January 12, 2022, to February 10, 2022. All passengers travelling from the now cancelled trains will be informed regarding the same through an automated SMS generation system and an email by the operating team.

The back-end authorities will also issue requisite guidelines for such passengers to help them reschedule their tickets and travel, accordingly. Besides, those travelling by the Tejas trains will also have to adhere to COVID-19 appropriate protocols strictly, during transit. The decision, a senior official of the IRCTC said, has been taken in view of the safety of the passengers. It will minimise the threat of transfer and inconvenience for the travellers.

The plan was approved during cabinet review on Monday and will be notably streamlined for use in the next year.

21 Omicron sub-lineage 'BA.2' cases reported in Indore
