Aiming to reform the BBD chawls at Worli in south-central Mumbai, the Maharastra government is working on a list of reformation projects in the region. As per reports, a recent announcement by the administration entailed that the area will be transformed completely within 36 months from now. Reportedly, the current intervention is targeted at providing ehanced residential options for the citizens in the prominent areas of India's financial capital.
CM requests local residents to preserve the culture of chawls
As per reports, the Chief Minister has requested that inhabitants of the region must work on measures for preserving the culture of their chawls. Further, reports state that the administration has adhered to most of the demands and pleas made by the local residents. Now, it is expected that the redevelopment project will usher significant benefits for the citizens soon. Reportedly, another minister affirmed that the regions of Naigaum, NM Joshi Marg and Sewri will also be revamped.
New housing units to be constructed in addition to the restoration work
Situated at Worli, NM Joshi Marg, Parel and Naigaum, BBD chawls encapsulate a large count of flats. As per reports, more than 190 chawls will be redeveloped under the project and the eligible beneficiaries will be given housing units in the area. Notably, reports state that these recipients will get ownership of these small establishments.
Further, slum dwellers will also be provided with housing facilities as a part of the redevelopment scheme. Besides the restoration works, new houses will also be constructed under this project.
Reportedly, the government has prepared a detailed plan for shifting the residents to transit camps when the project starts. Additionally, reports state that the proposals also include homes for police personnel residing in the area.
