In a major step towards making the state of Maharashtra electric vehicle-friendly, Mumbai stationed its first public EV charging point at the Kohinoor public parking plot in Dadar. A venture by Power Bank, this point was inaugurated by the Environment Minister of Maharashtra, on Tuesday. This move aims to promote and propel sustainable mobility in Mumbai and eventually Maharashtra, in the near future.
For the "greater good of our Earth"
The first-ever EV charging station in Mumbai can reportedly accommodate six vehicles at one time and is equipped with 4 fast chargers and 2 CCPS chargers for privately owned EVs. Each fast charger has a capacity of 15 KW (DC001) and is ideal for vehicles such as eVerito and eTigor while the Type 2 AC Charger is suited to MG-ZS EV and eNexon (CCPS) models. Meanwhile, the slow charging points are designed to charge all types of e2w, e3w and e4w vehicles.
"It is an attempt to promote usage of electric vehicles and taking a step ahead to protect the environment," the Environment Minister stated while inaugurating the charging point. The move comes approximately a month after the state of Maharashtra announced its EC policy. This move is one of the many steps of the Maharashtra administration for the "greater good of our Earth", the MInister added.
The charging station will be maintained and operated by Shuchi Anant Virya's brand, Power Bank and will cater e-fuel to more than 2,000 vehicles in a month. The centre is installed at one of the most active business centres in Mumbai, in the vicinity of IndiaBulls Finance Centre, that will boost its usage, read reports.
