Pod fares start at ₹999/- only!
The Indian Railways on Wednesday forayed into a major facet of international tourism by launching its first-ever pod hotel at the Mumbai Central Railway Station. These capsule-like sleeping cells are pay-per-use lounges based out of Japan, predominantly popular at several global tourist destinations, round the world!
Developed by the IRCTC in Mumbai, the private rooms are the definition of luxury and are now open for public use. Check out all photos here:
Reportedly, the pod hotel at Mumbai Central has a total of 48 sleeping cells. Out of these, 7 pods have already been marked as ladies-only while among the others, there are 30 classic pods and 10 private pods. Apart from this, there is 1 disabled-friendly pod as well which can accommodate two individuals at a time. In addition to this, 5 only-shower units have also been installed at the terminal.
According to a railway official, the pod hotel can be used by all passengers, for short-term stays. The fare of the pod rooms are marked at ₹999 for 12 hours and ₹1,999 for 24 hours.
