Mumbai Metro to extend its Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar services to 230 from January 18

As per the revised schedule, the first train will leave Versova at 7:50 AM while the metro service from Ghatkopar has been scheduled for 8:15 AM.

Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL) resumed its services back in October after a halt of almost seven months due to the early phase of the ongoing pandemic. Now, to keep pace with the surging ridership, the metro authorities have decided to extend their Metro-1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar) services from January 18. The number of trains will be stretched to 230 from 200 and along with it, gates at both ends of the stations at Saki Naka, Marol Naka, Chakala and Western Express Highway (WEH) will be thrown open to commuters.


Increment in the number of metro trains to maintain protocols of social distancing

As per the revised schedule, the first train will leave Versova at 7:50 AM while the metro service from Ghatkopar has been scheduled for 8:15 AM. The final metro train from Ghatkopar will leave at 10.15 PM in contrast to its earlier timing of 9:15 PM while the last one from Versova will depart at 9.50 PM.

Reportedly, by December the metro stations saw a footfall of around 50,000 and within a month's time, 20,000 more passengers were added to the list. Officials from MMOPL have also stated that the services would be increased based on the number of commuters and as of now, the daily ridership on Metro-1 is around 70,000. It is also being said that the increment in the number of metro trains have been done, in order to maintain the protocols of social distancing amid the routine crowds.

Further, the officials of Mumbai Metro-1 will extend bicycle services to Versova Metro station from Saturday onwards. The services had been initiated at Jagruti Nagar Metro station last year and according to news doing the rounds, the facility will be launched at more stations in the upcoming weeks.

SGPGI in Lucknow to get a helipad; Air-ambulance service to begin soon!

As per the officials of Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute, this facility is aimed to boost organ transplant across Uttar Pradesh.

Augmenting the existing medical infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute (SGPGI) is all set to start air ambulance services soon. As per the official report, the administration has given a go ahead for this new facility and the construction of helipad is about to begin by 2022 January. Notably, the PGI administration has already filed a detailed project report for this upcoming facility.
