Winter rains wash Mumbai for the 4th consecutive day, furnishing cold temperatures and low visibility.
Several regions in and around Mumbai were graced by light isolated showers on Monday morning, marking the fourth consecutive day of winter rains in the city. According to weather forecasts, these rains might be the last showers that the city will receive this year and season. Though scanty, below 5mm, this downpour has gripped the city along with dropping temperatures, accompanied by low visibility due to foggy and misty air.
Winters intensify in Mumbai with continuous showers
Mumbai and adjoining areas including, Thane, Kalyan, Dombivali, Palghar and Raigad have been receiving the concluding showers of this winter season. As per the records of the city met stations at Colaba and Santacruz, the city has recorded 13.8 mm and 4.8 mm rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8.30 AM on Monday. The cloud cover has dispersed in the city, and the rains have subsided with the clear skies now.
These rains, however, have intensified the cold in Mumbai, yielding the city its third-lowest December temperature since 2010. Mumbaikars woke up to a chilly 27.6 degrees celsius, which dipped from the 28.8 degrees from the previous day. The Colaba met station recorded a temperature of 27.4 and this, accompanied by smoggy air, gave the people a taste of winters in the city.

The Twitterati, perplexed over the fate of winter weather in Mumbai, took to the social platform and shared their state of mind over the dicey weather conditions.

While some called it out of syllabus, others seemed confused whether to take out jackets and sweater or umbrellas and raincoats! A whole host of 2020 memes flooded the Twitter on Monday, where people called the rains in December as bizarre as this year.
