'Fit India Freedom Run 2.0' to map its ways through 8 historical sites in Maharashtra

8 renowned historical locations in Maharashtra expected to star on the 'Fit India Freedom Run 2.0'

As per the officials, 8 famous historical sites in Maharashtra are set to find a spot on the 'Fit India Freedom Run 2.0'. As a part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', nationwide programs will be flagged off by the Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister on August 13. The government has planned countrywide programs in the next six weeks till October 2, to commemorate 75 years of Indian Independence.


Pune's Aga Khan Palace among other shortlisted sites

Apart from the August Kranti Maidan, which is famed for Mahatma Gandhi's famous 'Quit India' addressal to the Britishers, 7 other historical places from Maharashtra have also been shortlisted. The list includes Pune's Aga Khan Palace, Sevagram Ashram in Wardha, Lokmanya Tilak's birthplace in Ratnagiri, Nagpur's Sitabuldi Fort and places from Akola, Gondia and Chandrapur. Ahmednagar, Amravati and other districts in the state too, will have similar 'freedom runs' on August 14, successively.

Virtual presence of national organisations expected

Countrywide organisations like the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Indian Railways, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, National Security Guard, Border Security Force, and the Central Industrial Security Force, are expected to join the program virtually.

To encourage and prompt the commoners, eminent personalities from different spheres of life, including public representatives, panchayat leaders, doctors, social workers, sportspersons, farmers and so on, will be included in this program.

'Fit India Freedom Run 2.0' will further include the undertaking of a pledge, rendering of the national anthem, a 'freedom run', cultural functions, amid other things, An awareness drive for youth volunteers to participate and organise similar functions in their villages, will also be carried out.

What exactly is the Fit India Freedom Run 2.0 ?

'Fit India Freedom Run 2.0' has been conceptualized by FIT India Mission, to commemorate the 75th Independence Day of India- 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. A nationwide campaign will start from August 13 to October 2 this year, on the concept of "Physical/Virtual Run" to encourage fitness and gain freedom from obesity, laziness, stress, anxiety and other diseases.
