Mumbai to likely vaccinate frontline workers today as Maha moves to Phase 2 COVID inoculation

Mumbai ranks the highest in achieving the vaccination target in Maharashtra.

Mumbai is likely to begin the second phase of COVID-vaccination drive today, targetted to provide immunity to frontline workers in addition to medical and healthcare officials. This will be observed as a state-wide phenomenon in Maharashtra, where all districts will initiate the second phase of the immunity campaign.

As per reports, registrations on the CO-WIN application will authorise the drive, where a total of 580,000 frontline workers have registered on the Co-WIN app for the vaccination until now. Though the 'session-live' tab - signalling the start of the vaccination drive - is not activated yet, the Centre has assured it will set ticking by tonight.

COVID-Vaccination Phase 2 for frontline workers

Capital Mumbai ranks the highest in achieving the vaccination target, across all districts in Maharashtra by administering 46,359 jabs. Statistics have also revealed that Mumbai's turn-out ratio has improved, clocking up to 93.4% on Monday after 7,707 healthcare workers were vaccinated. While the suburban area recorded over 61% of its scheduled target, the island town recorded 65% of the daily target, generating a much higher response, in comparison to previous sessions. Pune and Nagpur too, have revealed promising figures with 14,434 and 27,555 people vaccinated, respectively.

This agreeability among the people towards the coronavirus shot is what has assured the state to step into the second phase. As per a senior health official, a mock-drill was conducted for frontline workers yesterday and the positive feedback has encouraged the state to widen the scope of immunisation, with scaled-up vaccination centres. As of now, Maharashtra is exercising 531 vaccination centres, which have succeeded in administering the jab to about 3,09,846 of the 8,00,000 healthcare workers registered on the CO-win app.

CO-win authority awaited

As per official statements, Maharashtra's medical machinery is currently awaiting for the Centre to activate the 'session-live' tab on the CO-win app. As soon as that is achieved, the state will kickstart the immunisation process of the frontline workers- including police, sanitation workers and revenue department officials. CO-win app authority is imperative for it is the singular digital source that records the data of the beneficiaries, allocating them sessions and details of the vaccination, along with information about the next dose.
