In view of the financial troubles ushered by the pandemic, Mumbai University has come up with an extensive list of relaxations in a bid to benefit the students. Reportedly, the varsity administration has declared a 100% fee reduction for pupils who have lost one or both parents to the pandemic. Besides, a number of special fees and charges are being slashed for the 2021-22 academic session and the reports state that the students that pupils will be allowed to pay the amount in installments.
Most charges other than the tuition fees to be reduced
The Higher and Technical Education Minister had released a circular asking the universities for a reduction in fees. In response to this, Mumbai University tweaked its fee structure cutting down on all charges other than the tuition fees. As per reports, the varsity management has recommended that the colleges must implement a 100% reduction of caution fee, library deposit, laboratory deposit, industrial visit, magazine fee and student welfare fund.
25% of the exam fees to be charged
In addition to this, reports state that library, laboratory, gymkhana, extra-curricular fees have also been reduced by 50% while 25% of the exam fees will have to be submitted. Reportedly, only 50% of charges will be charged for extra-curricular activities that have been conducted and only 25% of the magazine fee will be levied if online magazines have been published. No charges will be collected for the activities that have not taken place.
As per reports, the circular released by Mumbai varsity states that fees will be revived once the facilities are resumed for the students. Further, mark sheets, graduation certificates and other documents will be provided free of cost to the students who have lost them due to the floods.
UG admission forms to be available from August 5-14
Mumbai university started the process of UG admissions for the upcoming session with the rolling out of admission forms on August 5. As per reports, the forms will be available till August 14 and the first merit list will be released on August 17. Reportedly, the online verification of documents will begin on August 18 and subsequent merit lists shall be made available on August 25 and August 30.
