Mumbai University slates winter exams from October'21.
The University of Mumbai on Monday announced that it will commence the winter schedule of the varsity exams, from next month onwards. In a circular issued by the MU, semester assessments for the architecture batches have been slated in October'21 while the BE and pharmacy students will appear for examinations in November. Thereafter, law papers will be conducted in December.
All other courses of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes will also be aligned in the coming months and their timetable will be released soon, the MU circular read.
Exam papers will consist of a mix of descriptive & objective questions
The University circular further elaborates on the examination format for various courses. Some courses will conduct complete online assessments for the second consecutive year, which will be based on a multiple-choice-question (MCQ) format. For other technical courses, like Engineering, MCA, Pharmacy and such, colleges have been asked to set an 80-mark theory paper.
This will be segregated into two parts, including a 20-marker MCQ and the remaining 60 marks will be designated for subjective questions. On similar lines, the exam paper pattern for the architectural course will include a mix of descriptive and design based questions.
Model question banks to be shared with cluster head colleges
Reportedly, Mumbai University had initially started sharing the question banks in April '21 for examinations of the final year students of engineering and diploma courses. According to a senior university official, a new set of model question banks will be shared directly with the lead colleges of every cluster, which will be then passed to cluster-member consequently. This exercise is meant to introduce uniformity in questions and format for the final year assessments.
The varsity has also clarified in the latest circular that it will share question banks for semester 5 subjects in all courses, except the traditional BA, BCom and B.Sc. programmes.
