After a long wait and much anticipation, Mumbai local has finally got it's second air conditioned train. This development comes after the first such train was a success. This can largely be attributed to the fact that these trains are state of the art and hence, the first preference for travellers.
Now, the second such train has been added to the fleet and trail operations are expected to begin anytime soon. Read on to know more about the second state of the art train that will become a part of Mumbai local.
The new, 54-crore train is finally here and it should be a stepping stone into the future of Mumbai local trains. As of now, most of the trains running along Mumbai's local tracks are old. With the help of the new trains, the entire network could undergo a major upgrade.
The new train is expected to run from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (CSMT)-Panvel or CSMT-Kalyan routes. As of now, there is no confirmation, but once the trials are complete, the final routes will be decided.
The new air conditioned train is a stark contrast from the existing trains. Those were built way back and do not have the required safety features that a train needs. However, the new trains come equipped with air conditioning, CCTV cameras, air suspension system, vestibule connectors and a whole lot more to make a passenger's ride as comfortable as possible.
Apart from that, the second air conditioned train will also take a different route, thereby allowing more people to experience the future of local trains in Mumbai. The addition of this train was the need of the hour as the existing trains have outlived themselves by quite a few years.
