The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is all set to launch a new Bengaluru-Pune Expressway to facilitate better movement for travellers, especially those in Mumbai. The Expressway will be made at an estimated cost of ₹50,000 and will cover 12 districts along the way. As per reports, the expressway will pass via Kanjale from Pune Ring Road to Muthagadahalli on the Satellite Ring Road in Bengaluru.
Currently, the preliminary survey on the expressway has been completed and the final blueprint will be handed over to NHAI by December, 2022.
12 districts to fall beside the expressway
The express way will run along 12 districts from Pune, covering Satara, Sangli, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Gadag, Koppal, Vijayanagara, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Tumakuru till Bengaluru.
The project will be commissioned by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation Limited (MSRDC) in collaboration with National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The current distance between Pune to Bangalore is 842.1 KMs, which takes approximately 14 to 15 hours to cover. Reportedly, with this new expressway the journey will cut down to just 7 hours with a distance of 699 KMs and provide safe travel to commuters going on long journeys during night hours. The Bengaluru-Pune expressway will also be a visual delight as it will be full of serene landscapes. The expressway will cross roughly 10 rivers like Yerala, Nira, Chand Nadi, Krishna, Agrani, Ghataprabha, Tungabhadra, Malaprabha, Chikka Hagari, and Vedavath.
