PVR Maison to screen its first show in Mumbai on Friday

As all cinema halls across Maharashtra prepare for a reopening on October 22, an announcement by the PVR cinemas on Wednesday has added to the excitement of the theatre buffs in Mumbai. The multiplex chain is all set to launch its six-screen PVR Maison at the Jio World Drive in BKC on Friday, the same day as other cinemas revive services after the long COVID hiatus. As per reports, the unit will follow all pandemic related protocols and operate at only 50% of the 882 audience seating capacity.


Global art & luxury for the Indian audience

Inspired by French architecture, the new PVR property in Mumbai will have two LUXE screens and one viewing room for private screenings. In a press release issued by the Roadshow company, the luxury boutique will have feature lounges, libraries with art and grand living rooms with open kitchens and premium food concept.

Maison will bring forward innovation and improvisation to the overall theatre experience and the team is thrilled for the launch after the dip in exhibition sector due to the second wave of coronavirus. The PVR team is hopeful that this year will bring back the theatre-going crowd and the luxury property will play a crucial role in it.

A concept venture, this PVR property has been established to introduce new facets of luxury and comfort to the patrons of the Mumbai and Maharashtra film industry, informed Ajay Bijli, the Chairman and Managing Director of the PVR Ltd. The new property saw global creative collaborations to draw each aspect intricately for catering a delightful experience to the Indian audience. Reportedly, the PVR will have a total of 157 screens across 38 properties in Maharashtra with the opening of the PVR Maison in Mumbai.

Safety precautions at PVR Maison

The company has decided to operate as per the government prescribed guidelines to ensure maximum safety. The theatre will function with 100% vaccinated staff and adhere to all COVID safety protocols, a statement read. The audience capacity has also been restricted at 50% to promote the norms of social distancing.

Construction of a much needed 'puliya' begins near​ Awadh intersection in Lucknow
