Here are the steps to procure the local train travel pass via offline means:
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has started the process of issuing monthly travel passes for Mumbai locals at 53 stations. These passes will only be issued to those passengers who are fully vaccinated and have taken the second dose at least 14 days before their travel.
Steps to procure the travel ticket
The local train services are all set to commence from August 15 for vaccinated passengers but the citizens can procure passes from today itself. Interested passengers have to follow these steps to get their season travel ticket in the offline format:
- Submit vaccination certificate along with a photo identity proof to any help desk at a suburban train station
- For verification, BMC officials at the help desk will check the authenticity of documents on the CoWin app
- Passengers' photo ID and vaccination certificate will be stamped in a prescribed format after verification
- Stamped documents have to be produced at the ticket counter to get the QR-based pass
It may be noted that passengers who fail to produce the listed documents will not be allowed to enter the railway stations. Reportedly, around 358 help desks have been set up at 53 stations under the BMC jurisdiction to facilitate a glitch-free process of document verification. Besides this, concerned authorities will also set up help desks at 56 suburban stations in the MMR (outside BMC limits).
As of now, passes can only be availed offline, informed BMC. Reportedly, the online pass service, via the app will also be made available soon. These services will be made available on all 7 days of the week until further orders.
