Ti in Marathi means 'she'
Be it the middle of the road, during a business meeting or while you're literally trying to eat, you can never be sure when you get a nature's call. Keeping this spirit of urgency and added safety in mind, civic authorities in Mumbai have decided to come up with mobile toilets similar to the ones in Pune.
These toilets, that have been redesigned from old buses are made specifically for females, keeping in mind all their needs.
'Ti' in Marathi stands for "she" and that is the spirit these toilets carry. The toilets are painted pink and have a female attendant. Not only are the toilets in much better shape than usual public toilets that are mostly uncared for but they are also equipped with a ton of modern amenities.
These pink toilets will relieve you (all the puns intended) of every worry in mind since they'll also have feminine products on board. Not just that, according to a report by TOI, the toilets will come equipped with electricity, running water, a functioning television and wifi. The best part is, you can access these mobile toilets for as less as ₹5!
The first of these buses are said to be stationed at a service lane near Marine Drive.
The buses that we've already seen, come with an extra something. You can also expect a small cafe like section in the hind quarters of the bus. A similar concept is also active in Pune.
So, while your friend is holed up inside doing her business, you can grab a quick bite to eat, what fun!
We have to say, the idea and the concept of these mobile 'Ti' toilets is pretty great. Especially for the given price point, the facilities are top-notch and using these would be much safer than the substitute- using old restrooms or going in the open. We commend the civic authorities for taking up the initiative and hope that other cities follow suit soon.
