New Delhi Metro Line: Go from Rajiv Chowk to IGI airport in just 10 minutes!

If you hate traffic (who doesn’t), and if you fly a lot, then you’re in for a pleasant new year surprise. The upcoming Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar line will make things easier as it cuts the travel time to the airport from Rajiv Chowk and Manesar by almost 80%.

Currently, going to the airport from these places is a chore as it takes a couple of hours to get there by road or even the metro. With the upcoming metro, it will take 10 minutes to get to the airport from Rajiv Chowk and a mere 20 minutes from Manesar. Now that’s some convenience!

Another benefit of the upcoming metro line, apart from the reduced travel times will be the decrease in intra-city traffic as well as inter-city travel. The decrease in traffic in the affected areas will in turn reduce the pollution in the national capital.

Upcoming metro route

The construction of the 106 km long corridor will be completed in three phases. The first from Delhi to SNB via Gurugram, the second from SNB to Sotanala and the last one extending to Alwar. The rail map can be seen in the above graphic.

The new metro line, which comes under RRTS (regional rapid transit system), will cover areas from Sector 17 Gurugram to Udyog Vihar and Rajiv Chowk. The project for the metro line recently got a green signal from the NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation). The aim of the metro line is to increase public transport share by a massive 26% in the NCR and also make the city more environment friendly by reducing the number of vehicles in and around the city.

Delhi metro has revolutionized travel in the capital. And the new line will make travelling to the airport and out of the city much easier!

Ever wanted to party in a Noida Metro Train coach? Well, it seems that now you can, with NMRC's latest initiative. The idea was taken from similar initiatives in Jaipur, Gujarat and Gurugram's Rapid Metro, where train coaches can be rented out for parties. Incidentally, no other foreign country implements this rule.

One can book coaches on operational as well as stationary trains. To ensure that the average commuter isn't held up, only up to 4 coaches can be booked by a party. For booking coaches, you're going to have to pay a security deposit of ₹20,000 and then ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 each hour. Paying extra will get you a decorated coach from the NMRC, so that you don't have to do anything.

In order to actually book a coach, or four, all you have to do is head over to the NMRC's website and apply at least 15 days prior to the date of engagement. Following that, the NMRC will look into the matter and you can get partying in your metro coach within no time!

Knock Knock

The NMRC is constantly coming up with innovative ways to generate revenue from Noida Metro. Earlier, the metro stations opened up for film and television shooting. In the near future, we expect the revenue to help improve and expand Noida Metro.
