When it comes to road safety, we seldom pay attention to the rules. Four wheeler drivers, drive without seat-belts, people on bikes don’t bother putting on helmets and 3-4 people on a bike is something we see everyday. Well, it’s all going to change!

In attempts to crack down risky driving and promote road safety in the city, district administration in Noida has decided that people driving two-wheelers without helmet won’t get any fuel.

The Facts

Yes you heard that right. People who go to get their scooters and bikes refueled without helmets will be denied at fuel stations. The people working at petrol pumps across Noida, Greater Noida and rural areas of Gautam Budh Nagar, will now have to refuse riders who do not sport the necessary driving accessory.

So no more of just putting on a sunglass because “hairstyle kharaab ho jaega” or just covering your face with a duppatta because dhoop.

What else?

The step has been taken to promote safe driving and make sure that people who do not abide by the law, have to face the consequences. If a person is found without wearing his/her helmet they would be liable to legal actions which may include suspension of the riders driving licence.

Plus, if the rider misbehave with the staff at the fuel station or does not want to comply, they may even get arrested.

Most fuel stations in the said areas will have good and functional CCTV cameras installed to ensure that the riders do not misbehave or create a scene at the station.

Knock Knock

If you have been someone who rides without a helmet, now is the time to call it a day and purchase one. The rule will be implied from June 1st, so there’s still time to change your habit and start wearing the safety helmet.

Keep a watch on the space for more updates.
