Knocksense: A local content and recommendations platform

Noida, one of the fastest developing cities of the country, is on the fast track to becoming a more clean city too. With Noida Authority’s long awaited door to door garbage collection policy that kicked off on Wednesday, it’s become a breeze to dispose of garbage in the best manner. The areas where the policy will be operational are Noida Sectors 14, 14-A, 137, 49 and 50.

On the first day when the policy was put into place, the authorities released a report saying that at least 20 tonnes of waste was collected from these areas as well as from Aghapur village. Of the 20 tonnes, 15 was collected from homes in the sectors and the remaining 5 tonnes was collected from compactors placed in Sector 49. In Noida Sector 49, the authorities set up garbage collection points from where it would later be picked up by garbage collectors.

To collect the waste, authorities have taken under their wing more than 160 vehicles that will be operated and managed by AG Enviro. After collection, the garbage will be properly processed at a dumping yard in sector 145.

In order to make the project a successful one, Noida Authorities have teamed up with a private agency named AG Enviro Projects Private Limited. The two have signed a 10 year contract to keep the project up and running and in the next two months, expand to even more areas in the city. As per the rules, AG Enviro Projects Private Limited is to cover all localities in Noida within a year.

As of now, since the project has just started out, the services are free for use for all, but in the near future, they aim to make it chargable. From April, AG Enviro will charge residential areas for garbage collection services. The costs should be between Rs 30 to Rs 50 and Rs 5000 for waste above 100kg.

The move is a step in the right direction for making Noida a cleaner, greener city and as long as it keeps the city clean, paying a bit for the service shouldn’t be a problem. We hope that the project kicks of well and becomes a benchmark for other cities that are trying the same.

The first thought that pops up in our mind when we think of Khadi is- comfortable clothing! One might pick this indigenous fabric for casual outfits but who could have thought Khadi can also be used as elaborate bridal wear. A stunning display of a Khadi wedding collection at this year's expo at IGP, organised by the Khadi Gramodyog Board, garnered a lot of attention and changed the way this fabric is perceived by many.
