Connaught Place is one of the most happening places not just in Delhi, but in the whole of NCR. The place is home to tons of shoppes, eateries, clubs, and movie theatres and of course, the massive Palika Bazaar. Owing to this, it sees a massive footfall of people from all walks of life.
Since it is such a frequented place, CP is often littered in many places. With NDMC’s new plan, this problem will soon be contained. NDMC has employed a group of civic wardens who will ensure that the area is kept clean at all times. Soon, you could be fined up to ₹50 for littering, spitting or parking illegally in Connaught Place.
What’s the update?
As part of the new changes, there will be about 100 new civic wardens who will act as watchdogs in the area. They will ensure that visitors do not litter the place and/or spit at places where it is prohibited. Apart from that the goal is to make CP a cleaner, much better place to visit. The civil wardens will work in two shifts- in the morning to the afternoon from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM and in the evening from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
What is the role of the civil wardens?
Not only will they keep an eye on rule violators, but will also make sure to send the relevant information to the related authorities. The wardens have the authority to issue challans of up to ₹50.
Additionally, the wardens will be situated on the eight radial roads on the inner, middle and outer rings of the market complex. Apart from just catching the rule violators, they will also keep an eye out for illegal vendors, wrongly parked vehicles and will help in easing the traffic conditions in the area.
Their roles go beyond these activities because they are also involved in making sure that general order is followed. As of now, these issues are just a few that make you think twice about going to CP. At any rate, now that these wardens will be located across CP, we can feel much safer about visiting it.
